Kate Song didn’t wait long to support Cal. She started her tradition of giving while still attending UC Berkeley.

Continuous giving is key

“I decided to make a gift to UC Berkeley as a senior to say thank you to the programs that have shaped my Golden Bear experience,” Kate says. She studied chemical engineering at Cal and currently works as a packaging engineer for Unilever in Trumbull, Connecticut.

“We need to continuously give back so that future Golden Bears have the same opportunities we did,” Kate continues. “Giving back continuously and remaining Berkeley Loyal is important because without the extra funding, Cal wouldn’t be able to stay the amazing school it is.”

Kate’s favorite UC Berkeley memory is being a part of the Bonfire Rally held on the eve of the Big Game. Cries of, “Freshmen, more wood!” are heard all evening, and several alums come to speak and share stories of Big Games past. “It was the cherry on top of a fantastic and crazy week,” Kate remembers.
